Internet woes

Here are some observations on the perils of "intellectual" life on the Internet.


1- Never trust Internet sources.  Anyone can say anything on the Internet, and they always do.

2- Never turn to anti-X sources for information about X.  Jewish anti-Christians will not fully inform you of the issues related to Christianity any more than Christian anti-Semites will properly inform you about Judaism.

3- Try to gain an in-depth understanding about an issue before drawing a conclusion.  Conclusions based on superficial knowledge and evidence are inevitably going to be made for the wrong reasons, even if you happen to guess correctly in any given instance.  Knowing the right answer means understanding why an answer is right, not knowing a correct fact by happenstance--like guessing on a true-false question on a test.

I have basically shifted gears in my previous study of John 17.  I decided that I had covered so many issues, and there were so many more to cover, that I would do a commentary on all of John, instead of just John 17.  I'm going to cannibalize my earlier material from John 17 and put it in logical places in my full John commentary.

New Book Notice

Christopher Rowl and Christopher R.A. Morray-Jones, The Mystery of God: Early Jewish Mysticism and the New Testament (Brill, 2009), ISBN 978-9004175327

This is a great book synthesizing the vast amount study in the past few decades on early Jewish mysticism, with fascinating information concerning celestial ascent and the temple.  However, being it's published by Brill, it has the ghastly price of $272.  Aaaaaaarrrrrgh!

It is volume 12 in the Compendia Rerum Iudaicarum ad Novum Testamentum.
